About Us

About Us

We are interested in the role of endothelial cells (cells lining the inner surface of blood and lymphatic vessels) in physiological functions and in various diseases, including cancer.

ANGIOGENESIS

We are studying different growth factors and cytokines on endothelial cell functions, like cell proliferation, migration, tube formation and permeability.

METASTASIS

We are investigating endothelial functions on intratumoral angiogenesis and trans-endothelial migration of cancer cells.

LYMPHATICS

We are comparing similar cell functions of the lymphatic endothelial cells, focusing on the differences these cells present from the blood endothelial cells in the in vitro and in vivo context.

THE LAB

RESEARCH.

We are interested in the role of endothelial cells (cells lining the inner surface of blood and lymphatic vessels) in physiological functions and in various diseases, including cancer. We study the functions of the endothelial cells in various vascular-related diseases and we use this information to provide novel therapeutic approaches. A special focus of the laboratory is to study the role of a protein, the small GTPase RhoA, on endothelial physiology in pathological conditions with a therapeutic perspective.

OUR MODELS.

We have incorporated a repertoire of in vitro and in vivo models to address our questions. Cell migration, tube formation, wound healing, spheroids and live cell imaging are some of the in vitro models used to address the biochemical pathways. In vivo, genetically modified and conditional knockout mice, tumor models, angiogenesis models and live animal imaging through multiphoton microscopy are used for observation of biological processes that cannot be solely addressed at the cellular level.
